Florida Energy Industry can be broken down into 4 classes:

- Transmission – Entities that transmit the step-up power from the generators to the distribution center.
- Distributors – Entities that run the power from the transmission lines to the end-user. These include private owned companies, municipals, and cooperatives. Click here for a complete list of distribution companies.
- Support Organizations - Maintenance teams, service teams, smart grid personnel, and hundreds of other small businesses. In fact for every 1 job in the energy industry 4.208 other jobs are created.
